I am taking out a new crew this weekend: mostly small kids: 10- 13 year kids: 2 kids and 2 adults
safet is mai concern for the crew.
boat: 23 ft Wooldridge
all safety eqipment ready.
saw the NOAA marine forecast this saturday am:
SAT AND SUN
NW WIND 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 1 TO 2 FT. NW SWELL 5
FT. ,
still waiting for interval between swells.?

I looked at tides for the day: tides are not too muh water swing between high and low tides:

Date Day Time Hgt
06/07 Sat 02:38 AM 2.29 L
06/07 Sat 08:42 AM 6.1 H
06/07 Sat 02:27 PM 2.1 L
06/07 Sat 09:10 PM 8.1 H
(about 8 foot swing between
low and high tide)

was looking at crossing bar at about 8:00- 8:30 am, missing incoming max ebb.
then returning back to port about 1:30- 2 pm

goal to have kids have safe good trip.

any input from members would be appreciated,

I just skimmed through this but your timing is right for the morning crossing and your afternoon return is right at low water (which is a +2.1, not very low). We call those a hold over high or a soaker. The biggest factor this weekend is the small tide exchanges. I can't say what the bar conditions will be like but I can tell you that the tides will have a very small effect on the bar this weekend.

Good luck, be safe!

Im seeing 5' swells @ 5-6 seconds for Sat. Plus 10-15knot winds. Hope the duration stretches out a bit, that wont be a fun ocean to fish on.

With kids, you might want to look at the forecast again. Here's NOAA's pinpoint for just outside the bar. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-124.27853&lat=46.92079

NW wind 6 to 15 kt. Cloudy. NW swell 7 to 9 ft at 8 seconds. Wind waves 1 to 2 ft.
  • Thursday Night NNW wind 17 to 19 kt. Cloudy. NW swell 7 ft at 8 seconds. Wind waves around 3 ft.
  • Friday NW wind 13 to 15 kt. Cloudy. NW swell 7 ft. Wind waves around 2 ft.
  • Friday Night NW wind 12 to 15 kt. Mostly cloudy. NW swell 6 ft. Wind waves around 2 ft.
  • Saturday NW wind around 13 kt. Mostly cloudy. NW swell 6 ft. Wind waves around 2 ft.
  • Saturday Night NNW wind around 14 kt. Mostly cloudy. NW swell 5 ft. Wind waves around 2 ft.
5-6' @ 8 seconds, plus a little wind could be pretty bouncy for the kids.

People know me.
Doesn't sound like a kid kinda day to me. It's early in the season and fishing will be better as well as the weather. There's days it'll be glass.
