Took the family out fishing in Westport to take advantage of the weather. Saturday we spent lots of time hunting for fish, started at Casino and had one on but nothing more so made several more hour stops on my way out to the fleet at 180ft line. We hooked a few shakers and Silvers but had to call it a day at 2:00pm as I promised the kids beach and Jetty time. Sunday I decided I would run strait out to the 180foot line and not screw around inside. Water turned crappy overnight. We made it out on the grounds at 6:00am but hooked nothing in the first 45minutes and I was afraid my crew was gonna turn green. We heard chatter about fish being caught at Copalis head so we ran inside. Took us a couple hours but fishing turned hot. We caught a couple on divers but most came on downriggers at 30ft with a herring. The pole with a flasher not got hit so switched everything to strait herring. My kids could not keep the pole up by themselves while reeling in the fish so it became a two kid job, one would hold the pole higher to keep it upright while the other reeled, a little bit comical. Bait and birds were everywhere, we hooked three birds, the kids had as much fun reeling in the birds as the fish and enjoyed watching me unhook them while trying not to get bit. We burned a lot of gas this weekend but had a good trip.
