3 bluefin 30- 45 lb and 10 dorado. Right around the 172 between SBI and west end Catalina. Water temp 71-75 degrees. I hooked 3 on the ghost popper and lost all 3., one that was very large after 1.5 hours…pulled the hook about 50 ft below the boat. It was fun watching them eat the popper. Fish were up from 10 am until 5 pm. No mass of dorado. Lots of Huge Kelps like 30 ft across…all dry. 2 small kelps gave up the dorado. Unlike down south not many dorado jumpers so you have to try each kelp to see if anyone is home. Some very large schools of bluefin but most were smaller schools. Mixed 20-80 lb with a few mixed in up to 150-200 lb. We never left the area. All kelps in the channel and right off the west end were empty. The fish survived Hurricane Kay…get out there. Pics later. Time to clean fish and the boat…good luck and be safe out there.
