Not interested in chasing tuna so we headed to the west end with a scoop of squid from Nachos. Bite was slow in the morning but picked up around 10:30. Lost count but got about 10 sheephead over the next 2 hours; 10-14 inchers. Around 12:30 the calicos joined the party. Almost every drop was a hookup. Got about 10 over the next hour; (most were in the 13.5 to 13.75" range
). Also got a cuda and a couple opal eye. All caught on live or fresh dead squid.
My son was diving during the hot bite, so we were ready to give him a hard time. Then he swims back to us with the catch(es) of the day and a smug look on his face. A solid 24" calico and 19" sheephead.
Wind was minimal in the morning but picked up in the afternoon. Mixed swell according to NWS, maybe 1-1.5'. Boat/gear all performed great - kinda weird when nothing goes wrong, but I'll take it!
