Offshore Went 0 for 3 today

Headed out from San Pedro this morning 5am. Headed towards San Clemente. Hit a couple paddies on the way past Catalina. First 8 paddies were dry. 9th patty had some dodo got one to bite but broke me off at the boat trying to solo gaff. Got to work on my gaffing. Couldn't get any more to bite so I pushed on. Got to the west end of Clemente and start to look for signs of life. Found first former around 830 tried irons and poppers and nothing would bite. Put out the Macs and trolled a bit then ran into another and tried trolling around and no takers. Went back to the irons and hooked up on next school I found. Hooked up for 5 mins and pulled hook. Pushed north and ran into Wales, BFT and yellowfin. Thru surface iron again and hooked into 2 one I lost after first run and 2nd I lost at the boat. Just wasn't my day.

All action was west end of SCI water temp was 70-71 between 8am and 1 then the wind kicked up and I headed back home. Ride home was rough. I'm fishing till I head hlback home on Sunday but think I may pass up tomorrow with the forecasted wind. See how it looks in the morning.

Also alot of Xtra large Patty's on back side of Catalina that I was sure had fish on it but all dry!

Some of those foamer fish get foul hooked. I hooked one in the side with a Salas 7X with a single siwash hook. Got the 80lb fish but not fun on the single speed Trinidad and 9 foot jig stick...

That is the most birds I have ever seen on a paddy. I think I counted around 100.

I feel you, we went 0 for 4 on bft on my last trip to SCI. I'm thinking about doing another trip this weekend were you on the NW corner of SCI ?

That is the most birds I have ever seen on a paddy. I think I counted around 100.

I found one that I thought was a capsized boat from 1/4 mile away. So many birds on it it didn’t look like a patty at all.
