Yamaha F8 manaul tilt support brackets broke off today while trailering home from Shilshole to West Seattle. Only thing shittier than this is this season's blackmouth in A10.

I always trailer with it in the running position, as per manual's instructions, but it must've bounced up high enough to come down hard on these support brackets and break them clean off. So....what the hell do I do now (besides use a wedge or transom saver in the future)? It's a 2013 in otherwise great shape, and i've got no clue how to repair.

Insurance? Probably not worth it.... maybe find a blown one for parts and swap the bracket?

The 8 HP I picked up from alrocket had a similar part that failed. New part was about $120 from boats.net.
Easy to swap it out,

I can't see it too good on my cellphone to know if this is an option. Grind/sand everything smooth, fabricate the needed piece and weld on.

If you (need) to have it in the up position for clearance, bungee or ratchet strap the lower unit down towards the trailer. This should eliminate the bounce. I'm sure you can find a replacement bracket on Ebay. Good luck

This was how i always towed... Kicker in the down position, strapped tight around the leg so there was no bounce.

yep. last boat had a manual tilt kicker and i ran a bungee set up to keep it tight down to the trailer.
was driving between the mukilteo and everett launch once and hit some construction, the kicker bounced so high came down and bent the bracket that would hold it up. from then on i strapped it down.
