I got a message on my phone from Bob Hall (?) from WDFW doing a short survey on fishing in Washington. Left no call back number and said he would try and get ahead of me another time. Called at 11am on a Saturday. Odd. Anyone else do the survey? What is it about?

Phone surveys are used to help in the allocation of funds for various programs. For example, a portion of license sales is earmarked for hatcheries. They use the phone surveys to help direct funds, based on participation; be it Winter blackmouth programs, or Summer steelhead, etc.

The WDFW survey guy got a hold of me. It is a third party survey company. Asked two questions is all.
1. How many times did you fish for fin fish in marine waters from July 1 2020 to June 30 2021?
2. How may times go fishing (for anything) in marine waters from May 1 to June 30th 2021?

Maybe they wouldn’t need to pay for surveys if the fish checkers did their job instead of staring at their phones. Fished Sekiu 3 days. Never checked.
