Over the weekend my family member lost his life at the young age of 26 in a tragic car accident. He was my buddy and fishing partner growing up and will be greatly missed by me and my family.

So I headed out to point loma this morning to get some much needed therapy. I got some decent bait which I did not use and headed to the secret yellowtail spot. 20171226_065141.jpg

It didn't take long to find what I was looking for, the birds were a dead give away today. I would meter a school of yellows and drop my jig down and get bit instantly. Most of the fish I saw were between 50 and 100ft down and I was sitting in 200 to 250 ft of water. It was the best yoyo bite I have ever had and I landed 15 yellows (releasing 8) in 2 hours and farmed a few others. No monsters but very fun fishing. 20171226_123111.jpg 20171226_123339.jpg It was a very fun but also sad day because I knew my cousin would have loved to pull on some fish one last time!! You will be missed Aaron I know you were with me today!

Sorry to hear about your Cousin Cody. Prayers to yourself and the entire family. There is no better therapy than fishing. My mom had Alzheimer's for a long time. She was in a Nursing Home for more than 6 years until she passed in 2014. I fished a lot during that time. Almost exclusively alone. It was great therapy.

Sorry to hear that you lost a fishing buddy. When the departed are so young it is that much more sorrowful. Glad you did the right thing for yourself, caught some YT. Sometimes you wonder if those who go before us get a wish. It's not biblical, however there are many mysteries that we will never know on this side of heaven.

Kick ass day longboard85. You've been on fire! Thanks for the report.

Sorry for your loss. Way too young, which only makes it harder on those left behind, and yes, the ocean is a great place for "therapy".

Nice day on the water to be alone.

Sorry to hear the news. I lost a close friend of over 40 years in Oct. We'd go fishing a crabbing together all the time when we were younger back in Jersey. When I would visit every summer we'd still get in a crabbing and fishing trip. I take him(ashes) with me now on all my fishing trips. Keep his spirit alive. Nice tribute to him with those Yellows.
