This is not a tin foil hat conspiracy. I have been experiencing degraded/interfered with GPS signals since yesterday at 0800. The issue has been confirmed regionally. I do not have any idea what the effect is on position accuracy. I have no clue what is causing it. I just know that the timing signals I use at work are FU.

    Don't trust your GPS today.

Iran might have interfered with those two Navy Patrol Boats. China or North Korea beta testing their version?

The feds can play with gps signals at will. Don't expect any gps to be accurate near a military base.

There is NOT selective availability. This is extremely unusual, as in the first time the region has seen this type of interference in 20 years.

There is a current notice of testing, but it indicates a local area around New Mexico. This issue is being seen from Tacoma to Marysville (that I know of)

    o: GPS CRUCIBLE Government Partners,

    INTERFERENCE EVENT SUMMARY:

The USCG Navigation Center received two GPS disruption reports reporting GPS timing errors in the United States and Canada. The first report occurred January 25, 2016 at 5:35 CST affecting 250 customers across the United States and into Canada. Customers are reporting issues with their public safety communications networks because of GPS alarms. A second GPS disruption report occurred January 25, 2016 at 8:20 CST affecting eight Symmetricon – Stratum 2 clocks from receiving GPS timing signals. A COMM-ISAC partner reported to the NCC Watch that 100 cell towers in the NYC/NNJ region experienced automomous GPS receiver resets between 2:11 – 2:11 EST. All alarms cleared within a few minutes and wireless services were not affected.

UPDATE (3:21 AM EST): The GPSOC operations floor believes they have found the issue and have called in all support personnel to fix it. All updates are on hold until the issue is resolved so users may experience greater than normal position error and DOP until NAVs are restored. Currently no estimate on time to normal operations.

    CURRENT ACTIONS:

At 1:45 AM EST on January 26, 2016 the NCC requested initiation of a CRUCIBLE Group 1 teleconference. Group 1 attendees were; GPSOC, NAVCEN, FCC, FAA and NCC. Each operations center assessed the priority level as 3 (minimal operational impacts). Each operations center agreed that no additional conference calls for this event will be held, unless new interference activity is observed and is deemed warranted by an operations center to initiate a follow-on conference call.

GPSOC noted that they are working the issue and noted nothing significant and the issue was probably caused by SVN23 decommissioning. They stated that they have called in a technician to see if troubleshooting is possible when the nonstandard code began transmission when SVN23 was decommissioned. GPSOC concluded by noting that there was no constellation error contributing to the disruption.

NAVCEN provided the summary incorporating two reports. Disruption report 1 came from an email from Motorola Solutions (M. Sage) affecting 250 different Simulcast ration sites in alarm for GPS timing. Alarms lasted approximately five minutes. Time of report was 1735 CST (2335Z). Disruption report 2 from TDS Telecom affecting Stratum II clock. Time of report was 2020 CST (26 Jan 2016 0220Z).

NCC reported that from 1911Z - 1915Z that 100 cell towers in NYC/NNJ area experienced GPS receiver resets. NCC noted decommissioning of SVN23 and that problems cleared within a few minutes. They were in contact with GPSOC (BB).

When polled the respective OPCENS provided impact and priority assessment:

FAA - No impact to the National Airspace System, assign Priority 3

GPSOC - No additional information, no military impacts, assign Priority 3

NAVCEN - No additional information, Priority 3

FCC - No further information, Priority 3

NCC - No further information, Priority 3.

If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns, or would like to offer additional information regarding the event, then please contact the NCC Watch at 703-235-5080 or email at [email protected].

My Tin hat is firmly screwed into my head. They all want to say otherwise so as to not alarm the masses. China and North Korea are prepping to attack us as we stand by watching the busy signal.

Some of you remember the old standby signal that let us now that that particular TV station was off the air every night.

You'll need a DeLorean with a Flux Capacitor to take advantage of that Loran-C unit. All broadcast stations were taken offline and stopped transmitting by August 2010.
