My husband and I are looking for the perfect Pilothouse fishing boat to experience together the enriched waters of the Channel Islands.
We feel the perfect combination comes close to a Parker 2530, but would consider other boats in this class.
Any help with finding this type of boat would be very much appreciated.

You’re definitely not going to like the ride going from a Davis to a Parker. Just my two cents.

    Hi,
When I signed up I “goofed up” by putting in that we had a Davis Rock Harbor. My husband would love to have a Davis Rock harbor or Parker 2530. There are just so many more Parker’s that come up for sale. I agree with you that many people states that the Parker’s boats are ruff riding.
    Thanks for your two cents.

My advice would be to wait for a Davis. Call Harold, speak with him and ask if he has any leads.

Caroline, thought I'd provide a few comments regarding the 2530. I can't comment relative to any other comparable boats but I can say that properly set up there are no "pounding" issues as has been claimed many times on this board.

If you have the boat laid out well in terms of equipment location, have properly sized trim tabs, correct power, and the right propeller(s), there is no pounding or bow up attitude with the 2530. I'd recommend twin 200's for ideal power. I've got 150's and although they work fine, based on my experience so far I'd like to have 200's. Some have 250's, which seems like overkill to me.

The other thing that I've noticed is that I believe 2008 is the last production year that Parker used teak trim. Seems like they went to the UHMW stuff after that. It's not a big deal but I feel like a boat needs some teak.

I'm not close but if you and your husband wanted to take a look at a clean 2530 for perspective you are welcome to come see mine. Just PM me if interested. Good luck with your search.

The 2530 has a 9.5’ beam making it more stable than the 8.5’ beam Davis.
I’ve fished a 2520 with the 9.5’ beam many times.
I’ve also fished on Davis boats.
I would take the 9.5’ 2530 because it doesn’t rock near as much while drifting or anchored Compaired to any 8.5’ beam boat.
It will pound slightly more while traveling because of the wider beam.
The 25’ Parker’s come in semi v and deep vee. Recommend a deep v.
Davis boats are semi v hulls.

    Cleon,
Your Bahia looks really nice. My husband Mike just thinks that an enclosed pilot house would be so much nicer for overnight and cold weather out on the ocean. I have to agree with him that I am all about staying warm and dry.
We appreciate you trying and help us out with suggestions.

    Hey,
Thanks so much for all that good information.
My husband Mike hadn’t thought about all the time spent on anchor, great points.

    Mike,
Thanks so much for all that information. These post are really helping us with decision making.
My husband, Mike was concerned about being able to bounce ball with one 200hp. He thought the one 200hp might push us to fast?

I would imagine at idle the only difference between a 150 and a 200 would be the propeller. If the propeller is the same pitch than you'll move at the same speed. What I do for bounce balling is run only one motor at a time and put a small drift sock on the opposite corner of the motor that is running. This nets me about 1 mph which seems about right.

I run the Turbo OSI 4-blade propellers that are 15 " pitch. They actually perform similar to the factory SWS 17 " three blades at idle, but that's about where the comparison ends.

Yes, my husband has seen it, it’s brand new.
We are looking for a used one with all the fishing equipment already on it so we reduce some of the higher price new ones cost.
    Thanks for your reply
