Heard the Ahi were coming up and so I started to look for available crew......Jonah had to work and my nephew had things to do.....oh well, I guess I'll have to go solo. Went out to 30 miles looking for the Ahis and the Otarus that had been coming up but no love for me there. Decided to work my way to the Pinnacle and the pocket outside Nanakuli. Luckily I was blessed with a double strike and was able to land both of them. Must be getting old. Lots of aches and pains after.

    Russ and no crew,
Obviously you are perfecting (you already have it perfected) this solo stuff... Congrats Russ on finding them, getting them to bite and getting them both in the boat. Now that is way too cool. 2 rods dumping line simultaneously, can you say Endorphin Release???

    Cheers
    Pat

I forgot to put pictures of the lures that the Ahis bit yesterday . The smaller one took 9" Tsutomu fish head slant faced dresses with the "flower" skirts. The bigger ahi took a 9" Tsutomu fish head straight runner with ice blue out side, blue/magenta inside skirt with pices of yellow skirt on each side.

    Thank you!
Randy, Thank you for the kind words! Hope the season continues to get better so we all can load em up.

Luke, Thanks man! Nice to fish with a crew but sometimes just doesn't work out.

    Thank you!

    Pat,
Thanks for the extra kind words but you are still the ahi slayer at Waianae! It was definitely exciting and words can't describe the feeling after landing two Ahis by yourself....actually never thought I could! Truely felt blessed!

    Thanks Jimmy!

Thank you! Todd, I was motivated by your recent catch and the recent increase in action at Waianae. Glad I decided not to fish Hawaii Kai.

Pete, Thank you for always having such nice things to say. I enjoy fishing with a crew but sometimes I'll make a last minute decision to go fishing and easier to just go solo...just gotta take things nice and easy. The smaller ahi took my long corner which was the 9" Tsutomu fish head jumper with the flower skirts. The center was an icy blue with blue/magenta under skirt.
Spencer, Thank you! Congrats on your great catch the other day!
Brent, Thank you! The water was super flat and made it easy to plane out to 18 miles......didn't see anything so kept going out to 30 miles @ 90 degrees. Problem was I still didn't see anything @30 miles.

Thank you! That sure made my day.

Brian, Thank you! Was a little more work than what I was used to! How was the family vacation? Quality time with the ones you love!
Max, Thank you! Didn't see your boat....were you fishing on another boat? Congrats on your nice haul of fish last week!

*A friend e-mailed me some pics from last week and they were actually better than the ones I had!
