Heard about the one early July, 1100+ and the 1024 last week, but missed this one (see link below) , what an impressive black beast. Not sure but 3 granders in less than 2 months out of Waianae, MAY be some kind on record for the harbor.

3 Granders in 2 months is impressive. Plus 3 Granders in Kona so far this year with a slew of 850lb++ fish either weighed or released. I think the 1092 you refer to (photo below) is a Blue not a Black. Photo isn't super clear but based on the location of the 2nd dorsal, I think it is a Blue.

Pretty unreal this year! If I'm not mistaken, Shirley Y had a 900+ earlier in the year as well out of Waianae.

If the pec fins are fixed it's a black. Either way, its a nice one!!

Here is a 900+ black from PV.

You're right, haven't heard of 3 grander in that time period but back in '82 at the Pokai Bay tounament there were 2 granders weighed in and Capt. Tanaka with the bigger fish lost becuase it was a total weight format and the other team had another fish. Read here: http://www.sportfishhawaii.com/magicsclaim.htm

    and the fish here:

The winning team with other grander:

    Jim,
I certainly see your point, in addition the dorsal looks to be at least half (if not more) than the deepest part of the body. Also the pic Capt Jeff posted of the black clearly shows the second dorsal slightly forward of the second anal. Either way; what a beast. Thanks for the 2 attachments.

    Thanks
    Pat
