Wanting to look for the some Ahi, Jonah and I launched at 4:45 yesterday and decided to try CO area and see if there were anything still around. Got to CO around 6:30 and made a few passes around some scattered birds in the area with no action so we headed out a few more miles. Finally came into some bird piles with big splashes and got me thinking “ this is it”! Well, turns out the big splashes were Otarus jumping so made a few passes with the 9” lures just in case then decided to downsize and put out the 5” ones. It was not a wide open bite by any means but was a decent bite when You were actually in the bird piles. We hooked a few and lost a few but after landing 5 the birds disappeared and was never to be found again. It was a boring 16 mile ride back to the harbor with no bird piles or strikes along the way. Well, we’re still looking for the yellow guy and hopefully we’ll find them the next time we get out.
