Pushed way out west on Wednesday, hoping for some action on the dark side of the moon. Started the day off at CO, then headed out out out. At around 10am and 35-40 miles with no action except for a pile of mice aku, I decide it's gonna be a westside boat ride and get a heineken out of the box. I'm standing next to the long rigger when it pops and my beer makes a swift departure from my hand as the 12/0 starts dumping line.

About twenty minutes later, we watch a nice set of sickles pop up from the deep. After some skillful leadering on the part of my fellow crewmate, the Capt. places a nice gaff shot and we slide our first Ahi of the year up the swimstep and over the rail. Celebrations and high fives ensue. Made the long run back to Kaena with no other action except for a few mahi that didn't want to play.

Fish ate a 9" jethead in salmon colors. Blind strike. Big mahalo to Keaka on the Donna W for making it happen. Tight lines, big strikes and long sickles to everyone fishing this weekend!

    WTG John, nice fish!!
The 2 fish we caught on 5/14 were both on Salmon, and 1 on 5/13 was Salmon too. Looks like its a trend.

    Aloha,

    Allen
