Good luck to you, I spoke to someone on that trip. Captain Jimmy bombs, in green dorado, holloweenie, and bloody runner were the most productive colors. That could all change, but I would make sure I had some.

Actually, we ended up with 120+ Wahoo I believe.. On the Excel/Gallagher charter. Tom has the right of it on the Captain Jimmy bombs.. I will write up the trip shortly.

I love me some 'hoo! We got 70 last year the afternoon we got to the Rocks, 107 the next day and had a 100 Wahoo day on the Ridge too. I think I caught Wahoo on 4 different days on bait, troll, bombs, Raiders and Sea Strike 33. I'm hoping we do it again this year!

Well I dont quite have that many jimmys bombs. Only 3. They are rigged with 200# floro leaders. Mike Loust made up a bunch last year for whoever wanted to buy them. He seemed so heart broken to be leaving the ocean life. Beat of luck to him still.
I do however have a lot of other jigs and bombs for hoo's...but seems like I am a better live bait getter than artificials. Everybody rolls their own.

Hope everyone catches a bunch however they get um.
    I'm ready. Tex.

After all of this news I have brought out the 'Secret Weapon'....I have cut up a pair of old work boots and attached a strip of leather to the cross bars on my Jigmaster and my Squidder so I can use my thumb in conjunction with my reels drag just in case I need to do that..O'boy this is going to be an exciting trip. I usually run the hook through both eyes of my live bait it makes them swim down and they can't see what is going to happen to them....Ap

Get yourself a used uglystick, with at least 3 guides left on it, and you will be perfectly dialed in for anything that swims you're way!

Do I know you? That is exactly what I have for my Squidder but I think it has four guides and a tip, and for my modified Jigmaster 500 I have my trusty Roddy that I bought from Sportsville USA back in 1968. I broke the tip off of the Roddy last year (about six inches) but I glued on a new tip and it is ready to go. I thought about removing the new tip I put on and getting one of those "Roller Tips" for the big fish but I did not want to look like I was showing off. The Roddy is in great shape considering. The wooden butt stock is not real round anymore but is plenty strong. Not everybody is blessed to have the equipment that I use...... Ap

Sounds like youre in good shape to me, united composites rods, and these new fangled reels are highly over rated! I have a wahoo jig, made out of a 59cent can/bottle opener, painted orange with a can of old rust olium spray paint, with tiger stripes drawn from a felt pin. You should make one, easy to throw with a uglystick with just a couple guides!

Kinda funny you should mention the ole Beer Opener Jig. You must be an old timer. Those darn church keys are scares nowadays. I do have me some home made super special rebar jigs, I imagine will do just fine. With all of this recent hub bub about the Flat Fall Jigs, I painted up a couple of my rebar specials with some of that "Glow In The Dark" paint. You know this is going to be killer....Ap

So, Ap, either you've got the greatest sense of humor ever, and are an Olympic Class Leg Puller. Or, you're serious about your "high end" tackle and are going to get smoked! I'm going with the former. ;)

Remember when drag washers in Jigmasters and Squidders were made of leather?
If you do, you're probably older than me, and that's old!

Wahoo aren't all that hard to get, sometimes if you just wait patienly, one will jump on the boat! I just run up and put my tag on em, walk bak in the galley, have another beer! No fancy tackle needed!
