    Hi Guys:
Duke is almost 10 y/o. Would like to know what you lab owners suggest for OTC vitamins/supplements. Until now, he hasn't had a lot of exercise unless I was training for an elk hunt. But, that's changing as I'm on a 12 mo. program now which includes walking/hiking with him. He is very stiff and slow to recover from a good work out. I want him to be healthy and ready for Ducks 2017. Had x-rays a few months back, and hips are good.! Thanks.

Glucosamine and fish oil for my 11 yr old "Dudley" he also gets pain meds because he needs to loose weight. We cut his food down but he's desperate now. He ate a bar of dial soap last week.....

Glucosamine/Chondrotiin tabs from Trader Joe's - have worked well on 13 yr old Goldie and 8 yr old lab. Vet just gave us prescription Tramadol for goldie to take edge off the old hips

Try "Missing Link Hip and Joint" it has glucosamine and chondroitin. We thought we were going to have to put our dog Buddy down at 14 because of his hips. One of the sales reps from Blue Buffalo told us about it. Buddy lived for 3 more years until his internal organs just couldnt keep going.

Over the counter...check chewy.com or Amazon. The one MO Betta is mentioning above is also a good choice.

All the above are good-My lab is going on 16.,currently getting hemp oil and truprofen (remadal). -talk to your vet about this as it is bad for the kidneys if overdosed. Cheapest place to buy is Costco

Go slower on the exercise. If he's visibly sore, your doing too much. Got to build the muscle and flexibility back up slowly else you risk injury especially at 10 years.

Swimming would be the best if you have access.

Great info! Thanks for all the advise.
We started fish oil a year ago. Great for minimizing the old dog smell. I'll get some glucosamine and chondroitin.

Been 2 weeks & his swagger is back big time already.
    Thank you ALL ♡ 20150324_174602.jpg

We stopped feeding out dog commercial food. She now gets pressure cooked chicken (mostly legs), liver, beef heart, vegetables and rice. She had a small tumor on her side. After changing her diet the tumor went away.

Wild animals eat the offal first then the flesh. Liver is full of vitamin A and D. The heart has Co Q10. The chicken bones will provide the glucosamine and chondroitine. Chicken leg quarters are cheap. An instant pot makes it simple.

I should have reported back. Started him on Glucosimine/Condroitin. Results are amazing. Took a few years off his life. He's running around much more. And, he recovers from a work out much more quickly. Impressive stuff.
