If Bob Sands Tackle was at the PCS, then that would make it much way better over Bart.

While I agree with the observation that this 1st BART Hall Show is pale in comparison to the past FRED Hall shows we all know. I maybe wrong but it is like the last FRED Hall Show during Covid.

Food is way better at PCS esp the BBQ stand there, none in here. The weather does not help either. Hopefully Saturday & Sunday will.

Appreciation Bin at Bob Sands Tackle is the Gold mine. With great selections esp with UC GP Blanks in Red. Seen GPX blanks inside the bin too if you are lucky.

Got my Calstar WCDH-6480 for a good way way better show price 😉.

Goodluck to folks on the weekend & go straight right away to Bob Sands Tackle before checking other else & you will see why.

That may be my last Hall show. I'll definitely never go to the LB show again. You skipped the part about the complete dipshits they had doing door security making sure nobody brought any water or snacks in. Took us half the time we spent in the show getting past them. Search every pocket of a backpack. Empty your pockets and go thru a metal detector that wasn't really working, then get wanded WTF? Surrender pocket knives or take it back to your car? Only 98% of guys walking in had a pocket knife with them. Plus you get inside and half the vendors are selling or giving away promotional knives (or letting you throw axes for fun). Rousting women with strollers to make sure they don't have a bag of cherrios for the kids. WTF? I'm guessing they just got out of the way for the first mob that went thru, but screwed with everyone else that trickled in. If that security is some LA county mandate, Bart needs to stop doing business there.

I didn't see any significant deals. None of the vendors had the reels my group was looking for. Bob Sands only had a handful of Rainshadow blanks, none of the Black Hole blanks I was looking for. Some if you wanted UC. Tons and tons of non-fishing stuff. Just go to a bad swapmeet, it's about the same experience this time.

PCS was way better and cheapI
walked right in drinking a rockstar with a bottle of water in the other hand with a benchmade knife clipped to my pocket.

I had a great time. No issues getting in. I did have to empty my pockets . My buddy had a pocket knife had to take it back to the car. Beer and burger at islands. Spent along time just enjoying the day. Seminars were good. Got a few knife jigs, large split ring pliers and sumtin for the wife. It wasn’t too crowded .
For me it was a good show.

Had no issues entering today. Seemed like tackle sales were good at Bob Sands and Island Tackle. San Diego Tackle Traders had many customers stacked up.

Was disappointed by the lack of lodges. Seemed like there were only about 30% compared to FH days. Alaska barely represented.

Enjoyable read, getting different perspectives on the show, both positive and negative. I was amused by the whole pocket knife thing, reminded me of the only time I ever got busted and went to jail. My comb was confiscated and then they offered combs for sale! :) I attended the Hall Show several times in past years, but hit the PCS last year and this year. When I told my wife I was going she reminded me that last year I had said never again! :) But I went anyway.

At this stage of my fishing experiences, pretty close to 25 years of Long Range trips, I’m no longer building on the size of my rod quiver or reel bag, and don’t really need to buy much in the way of terminal tackle. So, I’m done with the shows. With the cost of gas for the round trip and one night in a motel that’s about $250. Parking fee, entry fee, and a Cocktail and a sandwich, another $50, just not cost effective. Seminars are always enjoyable and fun, but I’ll just pay attention to what the crew has to say.

My needs this year were quite simple, couple of 600 yard spools of hollow spectra, 100# and 130# along with a 30 yard spool of 130# fluorocarbon and that’s it except for one more loop needle for splices. In Southern California I took advantage of the sale that Mark Smith puts on at Charkbait. Years ago he had enough headaches and hassles to keep him busy and found it not cost effective to do the show and began his annual customer appreciation sale. It used to coincide with the L.B. Fred, now same weekend as the PCS. Very convenient.

This was my first and last Hall show it was massively underwhelming compared to PCS and mind you these are the first shows I have been to in 30 years.
not going this year I think I’ll just go to Anglers Center or Meltons, Hogan’s Dana point or even Turners
