Hey Guys!

I was asked to restore this rod earlier this year. One thing or another lead to delay after delay...

Finally completed this rod after a long while.

This rod has had a really long life, seems like it was sitting out in the sun for a really long time!

I originally wanted to go with a tuna cord handle, I feel like it blends better and keeps the vintage feel to it.

But! My client wanted a Winn Grip. I respect it, so I will put it on there.

It was restored with CPXtra from Voodoo Rods.

It measures out at 8’6 and its pretty thick walled, with an 11.5 tip.

Feels like a 25-30lb stick.

Not sure what it is, but it’s special to my client.

If any knows what it is, let me know!

Charcoal Black Size D
(Voodoo Rods)

Bee’s Wax Size D
(Pro-Wrap)

Fuji HN Heavy Guides

G4 Epoxy

& Finally! What I am most excited about!

I finally got my logo made for my rod building page (Instagram @Citadel.Custom.Rods)

For those who know me and know what I do, The Citadel is also known as “A Strong Hold” and why it’s important to me!

The top pic shows a darker blank and my first thought was an older, worn brown Fenglass blank. Looking at the others, two possibilities come to me: old Washington era Fenwick (Don Green era) or Lamiglas. Heck, it might even be an old Silaflex, pre-Browning days. I recall after Browning acquired the company, the rods had more of a painted brown look, similar to the Fenwick PB series of saltwater rods. But then again, I'm just an old acid-head from the 70's.🤪 What do I know? 8-)

BTW, nice resto work! Looks good to me. 👍

Nice job Robbie.
That glass is too blotchy to be a conolon and can't see the little rings in the glass. Silaflex or fenwick

Which one?
Nothing quite like the satisfaction of bringing an old one back from the grave. Nice job

What did you put under the cord? I still say Conolon. In one of the pics I see a flaw in the blank. I don't generally see those in Fenwick or Silaflex.

Nice...thread before looks really yellow...after epoxy seems like it's more tan. Either way, looks great.

What's under the Winn grip? Friction tape and cord or just friction tape?
