I finally had enough time to learn the video compiler software and was able to put together a video from our 36 hour trip... check it out!

Do they have a refrigerated fish hold or do they just hang their fish like that the entire trip?

They have multiple fish boxes and tons of ice. The fish are hung just prior to docking to facilitate handing the fish out (and to look good). The fish are taken care of.

    Awesome, thanks for the info.

I'm planning on getting the hell out of California and moving to the Houston area so I'm gathering all the information I can before I make the decision, because obviously, the fishing is the most important aspect to consider.

Would you happen to know the speed the vessel travels at?

4 engines. Scania from Sweden. It will actually do more than 21 knots if pushed

Nice video Eric, I miss fishing with you and Neil. Matt is an awesome guy and runs a good boat but I’m still a Port A guy ( Scat Cat or dolphin express )

They are good boats too for sure! Unfortunately they are another hour away on top of a four hour drive for me...

That's gotta be the most boring uncomfortable boat fishing I've ever seen, Ya might as well go get a 24 pack of Buckhorn and find your favorite farm raised trout lake and sit there with a bobber and worm.

What's boring and uncomfortable about it, especially the tuna part?

Honestly that trip wasn’t the best tuna trip. We caught bottom fish on almost every drop, however due to depths it takes about a minute to reel up a fish so didn’t think making a video of reeling all those fish up would be that exciting.

I only caught a few tuna and none on camera so tried to show the different techniques we use (popping, jigging, chunking). Unfortunately we don’t have all the fleets operating in Texas, essentially two boats in Galveston and 2 in Port A and they were predominantly designed to take 85+ people on daytime snapper trips when we actually had a season.

Personally I am just glad to have a boat that can take me to the rigs for a reasonable amount. I get that these are not long range standards but they beat swimming or not fishing. On wide open nights we can catch 40-50 YFT and 300-400 Blackfin (not counting the cuda and shark tax) and can catch 20 vermillion per person on a good bottom fish bite.

That boat and crew put very good numbers and quality fish when many other boats struggle. Many times they go out with people that don’t have as much experience or maybe never fished for Tuna before( there is a smaller tuna crowd in Texas compared to California). Not every trip is full ice chests but it’s call fishing for a reason Jenny!

    JB,
Yeah, fishing on the New Bucc ain’t for everyone. It’s totally fine if you don’t want a shot at a night of this because you’d rather have your pillow and blanket and maybe bonus bedbugs... Different strokes for different folks as they say. For what it’s worth, this is the yellowfin haul from a 1.5 day.Not shown are the couple hundred bottom fish and blackfin tuna caught as well...

35 on and 85’ boat with each person having a bunk/ bench to sleep on... and ice cold AC. I only go on trips 1-2 times a year so unfortunately I wasn’t on that particular trip. This was a special trip that I asked the boat to run for 360 tuna and BD members only. I don’t work for or represent that company other than to say I am a satisfied customer from many trips and want to share my knowledge with people who want to understand the Texas tuna fishing experience.

ok, That's probably a good trip, My first impressions "from the vid. anyways" was not something I would do, I had to check my blood pressure to see if I was alive after that..:zelfmoord
