Fished the Coronado islands today with two good buddies on Victors sea swirl. He snuck away from work Wednesday and boated five nice grade yellows. So when I got the invite along with the report I cleared my schedule. We left shelter island at 6:30 Am the bait line was long but with both sides open it went fast. Ran down to pukey point and started slow trolling sardines. It didn’t take long to start catching bass and Barracuda. With constant action all day on nice bass eating the surface iron biggest being like 7 pounds all bass released.
around 9:00 I stuck a nice yellow on my go to mint starman 112 fish ate the jig like 6 feet from the boat blew up on it. Fun fight on the 10 footer. We saw a birdnado with fish boiling beneath it about 1/2 mile off north island we ran out to it. I though bonita or maybe yellowtail so I stood ready with the surface iron. I was wrong they were Bluefin probably 25 to 40 pound fish. I think had I slid a hot bait and not casted my jig we may have hooked one. Back to the north island we continued slow trolling baits. Picked up two more yellows between the bass and cuda. Around 12:30 we were ready to call it a day we chumbed our tank and set up a drift . Close to the south end of north island we picked up about an 18 pound White Sea bass. Fun fishing lots of action nice break from chasing these bluefin back to the dock by 1:30 drinking beer and grilling fresh yellowtail for dinner. Sorry I didn’t take more pictures

Great report! The islands are starting sound like they used to be in the summer. Nice mix of fish. Nice fat Mexican yellowtail.
