What's up BD'ers,

Over the years I have picked up a bunch of older rods from garage sales mostly. At first these were the rods I used and over time I slowly upgraded to newer old rods (also found at garage sales). I have not been able to justify buying new composite rods because my rods work just fine. So as I found newer rods, my older rods were put away to collect dust.

For some odd reason, its hard for me to sell these, but I want to upgrade my jigstick reel (Im still using a Diawa SL20SH) and thought maybe I could sell my older rods for enough to buy a used Torium or Newer Saltist 20 or 30.

I have no idea what these rods might be worth, so I am interested in what your thoughts are on value. Not the high end, not giving them away, but more like giving someone a good deal so they are happy and I get a little something to help buy my next reel.

Appreciate any feedback you can provide.

1. Diawa Lamiglass 1300 series, 2 piece, spinner rod. (I have 2 of them)

2. Penn Long Beach 3360C, conventional, 1 piece. PS... I found this rod. If you lost it tell me what brand reel was on it and the color of the line, and I'll give it to the owner.

3. Sabre Stroker Pacifica, SP870S, one piece, spinning rod. This one has a cosmetic blemish on the rod above the first guide.

Moooo!
Bring them all down to the next tackle swap meet, and trade for your reel. Might have to toss in a couple more cheap rods or like $40, but getting rid of old gear for new is worth it.

There's not a lot of worth in any of that. The Sabre 671c is probably the most valuable,FWIW i recently bought one at a yard sale for 20 bucks.A lot of those are two piece rods which doesn't help.

I like this idea and agree it would be worth it.

fish that sabre or i'll buy it from you.
Much appreciated. If I dont follow Erik's advice, I might just donate most of them to Rollo or Dan Hernandez for the kids. If it's worth $20, I'd be happy to give it to you as long as it was convenient. I have a feeling you might do something with it and give it a second chance at going bendo.

Funny that as unlikely as it is, I hoped one of these were a rare collectors item... (fenwick, penn LB, custom one, or sabres). I have a ton of old irons (I got cheap from garage sales, flea markets, craigslist) that I feel the same way about, but I'm sure they are in the same bucket (not worth much). Those I keep (especially the ones with chipped paint) because most swim really nice and I don't get upset if I lose them.

I sell rods like yours at the fishing tackle swapmeets all the time. Usually the ones I sell have been refurbished and are in very nice condition but I can give you a pretty good idea of what they would sell for at a fishing tackle swapmeet.
The Daiwa spinners maybe $20 to $25 each
Penn Long Beach rod $15
870 Sabre Pacifica $30 to $40 these are the Big 5 Made in China rods.
UglyStik again $30 to $40
Sabre Chaser again another Big 5 rod, $30 to $40
Fenwick JB78 decent rod if someone wants to work on it $50 to $60
Chocolate Sabre ST671C You have pictures of two different Sabre rods, one rated 10-20 and one rated 25-80. The one marked 671C is a conventional 7' 670 chocolate Sabre. They are nice rods and would sell for $50 to $60 depending on cond.
If the 10-20 lb rod is a light chocolate spinner it would sell for around $40 to $50 depending on condition. Both are original Made in USA Sabres.
The graphite rod is hard to say without a closer look. If it is a good blank like a graphite USA it is worth some money. If it is a cheap blank it is only worth around $25 ballpark.
You could bring them to the swapmeet in Long Beach on Aug 10 and try to make a deal with one of the sellers. You might be able to cut a package deal for everything. Just please don't offer them to me, I don't need any more projects to work on.

I wasn't suggesting that the Sabre 671C worth 20 bucks,i'm just saying that's what i paid for one.I would pay more than that for one but i like the older stuff.
