Left MB at 5 am. Tried quite a few nice paddies for nada. Trolled between the 425 and Hidden for 1 blind strike Skippie. 2.5 miles NW of the Upper Hidden things got good. Found a patty with 2 boats working it and stayed outside throwing Colt snipers. Every cast a Skippie Upper Hidden Fish.jpg . Chunked hand fulls every 5 minutes. Went to live bait and threw enough live chum to get a small baitball around the motors. The yellowfin moved in and game on. Every 5th fish would be a Skippie but the yellowfin dominated. Called the numbers to a friend and headed to the barn at 1pm. Lots of chum was the ticket.

I'm not hating, really they would be fun on a trout pole. Light tackle tuna on those that are closer to 5 pounds. Your day of fishing beats my day at the office.

It was like a lake out there. 30 knot cruise and no need to watch for swells. Very little wind. That will change tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind catching those at all when it's non-stop action, it's tons of fun!

    Glad you got 'em.
The numbers for that paddy were 04 over 29, in case anyone was wondering.
The yft we got off it were all around five pound midgets.
It didn't take long for half the fleet to show up...

A neighbor of mine who is one of the best fisherman I know couldn't make it out yesterday so he went today. Got up at 2 am, on the water at 4:30, headed to the Upper Hidden, burned 100 gallons of fuel, and got skunked. To all the fisherman that heard me call out the numbers yesterday, I hope you filled your bags. I told my buddy to come by later and grab some fillets.

On a side note, just curious what you did with all the skipjack you caught?

Same deal with all the skipjack the sportboats are keeping...

I can't remember in the past, when the sportboats ever made a point of posting "limits' of skipjack - skipjack, really?

    Skip Jack uses
    1) fresh it makes good Poke
    2) excellent smoked. I like smoked Skipjack tuna sandwiches.
    3) terrific strip bait for Dorado. Also the best catfish bait ever. Works very well for rockfish bait as well.
    4) terrific dog food. Very healthy to add to your dogs diet. You can vacuum pack it and place the package in boiling water. Open the pouch and add it to your dogs dry dog food. My Danes love it.

Skipjack taste just like lobster after soaking in a cage for 45 minutes.
