When fighting a fish with a jigging set up under the arm, which arm should the pole go under if you are right handed? I have been doing it with the butt of the rod under my left arm but I noticed in some pictures here people having it under the right arm and being right handed.

Thanks
Floyd

It depends on what is comfortable. You can switch back and forth because each side uses different muscle groups to drive the handle. Results in more equal distribution of fatigue.

With a left handed retrieve reel it would make sense for it to go under right arm.. With a right handed retrieve reel it would be natural for the rod to go under the left. Would seem very uncomfortable and lose leverage to do it opposite of that. But that's just my .02

I put the rod under my left arm 'cuz I'm right handed. I see rightys with it under their right arm and they seem to be struggling more than necessary. But hey, whatever gets the fish in the boat!
