I had a couple of UC Rail Rods built by Moon's custom rods. I am really pleased with the way they turned out.

Simple with old school Tuna Cord back end with black on black wraps. Extra long cold shrink foregrips.

Blanks were a 7'6" Viper and 7'6" Invictus.

Moon was a pleasure to deal with. Totally accommodating and honest.

Coming out with me on back to back 15 day trips on the Excel starting Jan. 15

Nice rods. I just got a rod done with the tuna cord also and will use it on the intrepid 1/9 trip! I like the feel and weight and I know the deckhands like grabbing the cord section.

Look great John! Love the murdered out ...my fave.
Particularly like the extended foregrip. What is it 19-20"? All my rods seem to take some abuse in that spot you're adding. See you there...

I can stretch the 18" 3 M cold shrink to about 20". Works well.

Real deal Holyfield with both of those rods. Moon does exceptional work and is one of the best artist / builders in SoCal. Just wait until you put a big ass bend in those rods.......you'll witness the shear and insane lifting power. Enjoy and good luck!

Nice john. Good luck on your trip. I love all my United Composites Rods. One of my favorites is the gladiator. All if my rods are wrapped by salty dawg. The rail dawg grip is a great option. The Indy just had a bunch of kite rods built with the grips. I believe the excel also.

I'm planning on having Moon build those two exact blanks for me in the near future if he is available. He has built a few rods for me already and his work is exceptional. Nice to see how yours turned out.

Between the quality of his work and pleasantness, Moon is indeed a good person to work with.

Have fun on your trips (back-to-back 15 dayers? Wow!).

Very nice John... I hope I get to see you put them to good use. And FYI, the cold shrink is actually available in a 36" length as part of a "splice kit". I'll use it and cut it in half for two 18" grips when I need to. PM me if you need the part # for the cold shrink.

The Bushman built me a beautiful 76 Viper. The rod is a beast as well as a work of art.

In fact, more than that. Ken's work is AWESOME, and my Viper 76 is an object of envy...
