Found this Cool Penn 49L and can't wait to use it. I'd like to make sure Free Spool is it maximum. What is your advice? Have $65 into it, not sure I want to send it out to Cal or Coffe (of they are around) not sure what they might charge? Do I crack it open and shoot some fancy spray? I Don't know anything about this.

The 49 really isn't a casting reel so the only free spool that may matter is to allow the bait to swim easily. Frankly, there are many reels that are better at this. Remember the 49 has bushings, not ball bearings. Use it for bottom fishing or salmon trolling. Or display.

Why must you guys dash my hopes with the Truth??? Ya, I kinda thought that, Love the High Narrow look and the solid 4/0 feel. It may be a wall hanger.

Get a Baja special or US113N if you like that. Those reels are tanks.

Got one, yes, seems to be the modern 349. Love that 113N use it for YoYo. You probably don't recall but you were a great help in matching my rodbuilds with Reels. Thanks
