So I was wondering how you troll your Madmacs? More specifically, are you running a ~ 6 ft leader to braid or do you have ~100 yds of mono for stretch.
While trolling how much drag are you using? I tried searching BD but 99% of the posts are selling or looking for Madmacs.

My two trolling rigs are tld-30’s.. 100lb braid to about 300’ 80 mono… I use a Hawaiian clip at this attachment. Madmacs are rigged with about 4’ of 200lb mono. Crimped direct to the Mac with a chaft spring in the crimp….

Last time I fished the we used 100’ mono to 100lb spectra. Could use 130lb spectr. Drag at somewhere near 25lb. We got bit off Maybe once or so. Landed 5. Jake thinks it is a stealth rig. Go heavier mono if you are afraid of losing a jig. Maybe 150lb.

200 hollow braid to a wind-on 135 or 150lb mono! The fish don’t care. Make sure you change both hooks on the bait to trebles, not just the rear hook!! Troll the baits 250yrds back and hold on tight🤫
Any special size/brand ?/0 and are they 4x+ strong
Any info will help going thru a trial and error phase ?

We use the 5x 5/0 owners
    That’s what I’m looking for …
I’ve heard several others are using a strong treble hook on the tail end of their Madmack’s … if you stitch their lips together they can’t get much oxygen … that’ll kick their ass …
I keep hearing the strike hook up ration using the factory supplied hooks are lacking … just a bit …
I like an edge …looks like you found it … thanks

Ive also seen adding a ringed hook to the split ring on the madmac will help with lost fish. The hook has more freedom of movement with the second ring.

How much mono do you run?
    I’m just using my wind-on’s … 15 foot +- …
Attached to the 100# hollow braid… loop to loop.
You can straight tie with a San Diego Jam knot to the lure.
Depending what pound test wind-on you use you can attach
a 3’x4’ section of fluorocarbon (for the extra abrasion) from the lure to your wind-on … I use crimps …
Use a short section of wire if you wish …
Drop your lure over the transom … see if it’s tracking correctly.
I’ve heard some direct tie with 80#-100# fluorocarbon.
    I like a little more insurance 130#-150# fluorocarbon…
    90% of all my wind-on’s are fluorocarbon…
My 100# hollow braid is marked at 100 yds then again @ 200 yds
I have another 50 yards of 100# hollow then it’s attacked to 80# braid … may I suggest if you use a short fluorocarbon top-shot don’t have your drag set super tight … theirs no mono stretch.
I’m just a beginner, but damn I’ve been asking a lot of questions.
The more knots and connections … a bigger chance of failure !
