I’m getting my 900xl built and this will be my go to 20lb stick. Was going to go with a 12a. 17lbs of drag, same as my 14 but smaller.
Was thinking at putting 40lb cuatro on it.
Who’s got one, how do you like it?
Thanks!

I don't have one but I've fished a friend's before. I personally would stick with the 14 but that's just me.

I’d think you could get 300 yds of MC on there with a 20# topshot. That should be fine. I use both my Fathom 12 and 525 Mag for 20#.

I have the 12A and had a 14A. Definitely prefer the 12A more and that's why I got rid of the 14A. Plenty of capacity if you use a short top shot.

I too have both and prefer the 14A over the 12A because of the size of the reel. I have large hands and the 12A is just too small for me. Both are excellent reels for 20#, they cast great and very smooth drags. I recommend you handle both and pick the one that is most comfortable in your hands.

If it's a DH rod I'd go with the 14A cuz it has a rod clamp
I fish a 14A with my 900xl perfect reel for the rod
