A good friend of mine was down for the weekend and asked if I wanted to meet up with him at Old Mans Beach.
I informed him that the beach doesn't open till 6:00 and he had a small window to fish.

We ended up meeting by Christianitos Rd and would walk down to Trestles.
I hadn't been there in probably 3 or 4 years so was anxious to check things out.

We hit the sand at 5:30 to an incoming high tide at 8:45 with waves just 1-4 feet.
The water temp was right around 61-62 degrees.

The beach had a lot of cobble stones and a good amount of seaweed.

We started to fan cast and neither one of us was able to get a nibble till about 45 minutes in;

I caught this little spotty and CPR'd as soon as possible.

I stayed at the area for a little bit and was hit again;

This time I caught a little sandy.

After that we we didn't get any more bites till about 7:30 when Don finally got something on his line.
It was a small YFC, maybe about 9 inches in length.
Shortly after that I get another small sandy;

It would be the biggest fish of the morning.

Don did hook something nice but it came unbuttoned.
That's fishing.

Don had to take off so we headed back to the trucks.
On the way back I did not see any signs of sand crabs at all.

Trestles will produce much better when the salad moves out and now that I have my spots with tide heights
in my memory banks again I will hit hit a few more times this year.

Take it easy.
