I used Associated back in December. Nothing but good things to say about the process.
Osprey 30, sounds like she weighs in at around 15k.
I’m considering just driving down there, but I’m not stoked on driving through LA with a big ol boat.
Shouldn’t be too bad if you do that part at night or in the very early morning.

And right now with covid and people working from home it ain't bad at all. Its been nice being able to get around lately
I drove down to Morro Bay to get mine. Was 29' by 9.5' wide and weights about 13,500lbs.
Was going to have it shipped, but i got tired of dealing with people on the phone and jumped in the truck. Had the bearings replaced by the seller while I was on my way down.
It was painless and I'd do it again the same way. I had a Dodge 2500 fwiw.

Anything on the west coast I would transport myself. East coast id pay for it. Dealing with shippers is a nightmare. Anyone good is already busy.
If you time it right< it is not that bad. Check a map, there are various routes to the East with ALOT less traffic. You just dont want to go thru LA on highway 5. Or you can do it at night.
Jasper, i use to haul on u-ship, boats, put 40,000 mi on 1 yr pulling up and down I-5, or the 5 as they call it down there. Get to the boat in the afternoon, check everything over, go out to dinner and head out around 9pm, clear sailing, everything should be clear sailing unless you do it friday evening, then wait till 10ish. I have hauled a 30' seasport explorer and 28 farrallon plus multiple 25' through LA, just do it in the late hours or wee hours and your stress level will be much better.

Piece of cake. Drive down get the boat and come back. You should be able to do it in under 72 hours.... I drove to Northern Alberta to get mine.
72 hrs? Isnt it like 18 hrs each way to LA? Take a buddy, turn n burn it. I almost did it to Encinitas but got waaaay to good of a deal through uship.
And yes, that osprey is unreal. You better secure that baby FAST!

If you drive it yourself, you can also factor in a trip out of San Diego and bring some blue fin home too!
Hah! I know that, especially with an oversized load, those lanes are 8’6” period, but like my dad always said, just weave around a little, they will stay away from you, ha ha
Well I doubled down, after chatting up a few BD’ers I figured the only way to properly pull a big ol boat is a dually. Hopefully heading to LA this weekend.
It was pretty sad saying good bye to the 5.9l with killer fuel mileage and a trusty stick shift, buuuut 800 ft lbs torque has a nice ring to it.
