Any experts out there got more of a clue than I do, please call me. I can't get the "latch" to lock shut when hooking the trailer to my truck, I am working on it as you read this if it is still the morning of the 4th :)

Are you sure the mechanism isn't compressed under the ball? I always let the trailer slide onto the ball - never have the trailer directly over the ball but about a 1/2" away and let the trailer come forward as you're dropping it onto the ball. Oh yeah, lube everything too...

Try this. With the tongue/hitch on the ball, pull your truck forward just a bit, should drop the latch......if that's what you're talking about.

The latch is adjustable via a nut underneath the latch...But I must ask this question, have you hitched up this before?

The reason I'm asking is I tried to put a 1 7/8" hitch on a 2" ball one time just didn't quite work for me.

You could have a 2" plus ball and a 2" hitch.

Thanks for all the comebacks, I am going to start taking it apart right now. I have tried all those suggestions and yes I have had it hooked correctly before aka correct ball/hitch combo. I am think probably a little adjustment/lube should do it.

Thanks again

When I first brought my trailer home. I couldn't get the latch to go DOWN. I tried everything. I called friends. Rubber mallet. WD49. No bueno. I eventually unbolted the ball from the hitch.

Then I pulled the lock forward instead of backwards and the ball hit the ground!!! :eyepoppin

Thanks for all the advise.

Harry,
Well, I guess we're neighbors. Saw the carnage as my wife and I walked up to Kragen. Nice to put a name to a boat.
Looks all to familiar. Breaks are "fun".......... ;) Did two trailers in the last month.

Shit, next time stop and say hello. For sure you need to make our 3rd annual Bloodydecks kegger this October. Have not set a date yet but the wife and I are talking about it already.
