My wife is getting me a kit and supplies for my birthday.

Is this a good set up? (No, I don’t want to start with a hand wrapper. Yes, I’m OCD and I’ll stick to this.)

Thank you.

Overkill & not required.
Im sure other wills chime in on the latest brands as been a while for me & havent kept up with the latest & greatest bling.
This is all you need & will last years & years:
$300
all the other stuff is just crap. You can get salsa cups at the local taco shop for mixing epoxy, chopsticks, etc...
razor blades & brushes are dirt cheap.
Dont need all the fancy stuff...
When I was shown the ropes I was taught to use a cheap thread bobbin & dont ever use the thread carriage to this day...

The one thing i notice is there are no rod supports with rollers and O-rings.As suggested already buy what you really need to get started.

    I need a ride.
The essentials are the lathe/machine, dryer, epoxy paste for grips and seats and epoxy finish, then you can buy shitty brushes from amazon that work better than those yellow ones, and a pack of 100 mixing cups fir a couple of bucks. Thread you can order full 1oz spools for a way better deal and youre proobably going to get better colors and it can last you longer. Those spools of thread that come with this kit are probably going to last 1 rod each spool, as opposed to 4-5 rods for a 1oz spool.

A lot of those things in that kit are useless and will just take up space.

If you can be patient, lathes come up from time to time on BD. Put up a want to buy ad. That worked for me.
Thread and supplies can be had online.
And there's plenty of videos on YouTube.
    Enjoy this addiction.

You got plenty of budget left to start buying blanks and guides after you get the kit?

I'd rather have the bare building essentials plus enough components to build 2-3 rods, than a kick-ass kit full of stuff I get to use someday. Shopping for stuff is pretty good but fishing is better.
