Short Report, my last trip of the season. Almost the last for TG 80. No need to say anything about that boat, it is as good as it gets, crew, Skipper and hands are very professional. Sara kept us too well fed to complain. Great boat if you can book an empty spot.

Fished the Cortez. Day one was rough but quality yellowtail and a mixed bag of tuna hit the decks all day. Not wide open but a pick of Bluefin, Yellowfin and real Quality Yellowtail all day long. Many seals but little damage. Lots of beautiful Smooth Hammerhead Sharks to entertain us and rob a few tuna. 180 Yellowtail, 60 tunas and one ALBACORE!!! Thats right, a lone, lost longfin who hit the decksDay 2 more of the same but much better weather. We also had at least a hundred skipjacks and Bonita which were usually bounced to the deck and released. Saw two other boats the whole trip; we had the bank to ourselves.

We fished from the hook with some current and I want to thank the other anglers I fished with for their good nature working fish in close quarters at the rail. You were great to fish with!

    Tighter Lines.

Sarah is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Capt. Bob T. must have stayed at the dock or maybe finally found the right medication...

Did you guys get the Albacore on anchor? That would be an interesting catch.

Wow what a great haul. I caught an albacore 1 month ago an the El Cap. and it was mixed with the Yellowfin, on the drift. Funny thing it had yellowfin spots and looked just like a YF. Took awhile for the young crew to ID. They have not seen many of these critters in there life. Capt. insured them it was Alby. given the pec. fins.

I've seen thousands of albacore , both commercial and sportfishing them in my life and never saw one with any markings like a yellowfin or anything close.

Yes it was picked at anchor. We caught a lot of different fish including a Black Sea Bass, about 150# that was released after an hour battle. Caught dropper looping on the bottom at night, at anchor, on the Cortez.

Steve, I do not know why this alby had Yellow fin spots, but if you see the El Cap report 2.5 day about 6 weeks ago they did indeed call it an alby. I have caught hundreds of them and never saw anything like it. Maybe a yellowfin with a 12" pec fin. I dunno

Maybe a cross dressing yellowfin? I am colorblind so I will let others make that call. I do know the Bluefin I just got through eating at dinner, slathering with soya and wasabi was a bluefin! Nothing eats like bluefin. Beginning to think Albacore are mutating into snipe, since it is many moons since I've seem them.

We just had one of the seasons of our lives, or at least I did. Life is good.
