    January 16th?
    What???
Can't tell you the last time (if ever) I've heard of the yellows going off at the islands in the middle of winter.
It was an absolutely bitchin' day today - flat, warm, flip-flops, shorts, and an ice chest full of Corona (and fish!) - East Cape type shit.
All the action was on the weather side of north island.
We went three for three, with the smallest being around 25 pounds and the largest pushing 40 (in the middle of January???)...
Mackerel, fished deep, and blue/white iron did the trick (the big boy fell for the mac).
Anyways, time to put the rock cod crap away and get on the 'tails!

By the way, the DFG were out checking licenses and stuff.
My CA license expired the end of last month, but the guy was totally cool and said as long as my buddy had a valid license, we were alright.
Nice way to end a trip.

I went wednesday and chased the deep bait with iron and Macks for hours that AM for nada. Watched the Mission Belle tag a few fish and saw no action on none of the other privates. Filled up on Rockies and cervesa and had an awesome day otherwise.

And what WAS the Sea Shepard boat doing out there?

Too bad I feel like I participated in a crime spree by actually getting my 2FMMs. Didn't see or hear of the navy pukes.... After reading thru the forums, do privates really need the FMMs?
