Just wondering if anybody uses scent out there and if so what type. Procure squid/calico candy, uni butter. How do you do with these? I am looking at using them for the halibut in the bay. Do they work and what are some good tips???

Procure in a gunny sack with cut up fish carcasses attached to the top of your anchor. If your drifting, I wouldn't waste my time or money doing it.

I like to use it with my HUB style baits. Just squeeze some up into the tube before you let em rip!

I catch a Lot of Halibut in Oregon. My top producer is an 8" White PowerBait or Gulp Grub on a 16/0 Mustad circle hook tipped with a 6" strip of Tuna Belly. The combination of flutter and scent is very effective. Up here fish are typically caught drifting in 300-600 fow using 2# - 3# cannon balls. The Grub/Tuna Belly drifts several feet off the bottom; distance depends on the length of the lead line.

I know California Halibut are smaller than Pacific Halibut, but it seems like some variant of this rig, sized appropriately for your bay Halibut, should be effective.

Here is a little known but productive lure.

It's advertised for trolling but add an oz or two at the nose
    and jig it.

Get some of the heavy duty zip lock baggies. Squirt some scent into the bag. Put your rigged hoochie or swim bait into the bag and mush it around. You do not want any ProCure or Unibutter on your hands or clothes. Trust me.

Rinse and repeat. Keep baggie closed up when not using.

Not worth the hassle of getting that shit everywhere and anywhere.

Spit on your bait and pretend you are a bottle of Procure.

    Confidence kills fish.

I will admit to using all in past. Uni Butter was fav. Just sick of the mess. I catch just as many if not more fish without.

Fish where the fish are is more important them slime or butter.

You don't want that shit getting on your deck either.
