I'm taking some lovely ladies out on a day cruise on Sunday and I wanted to do some fishing while I was at it. I want to troll an X-Rap Magnum for threshers. What speed to yall recommend? Also, what color patter and size have you had good results with? One more question, where they at? I've heard of some off Laguna and Dana. Any between LB and Newport recently? I will gladly post pictures of the girls if you guys help me out here :D

    Thanks

    Julio

Mostley run slow maybe 2-3 knots. Try varied speeds but not more than 5 knots.

    Now let's see some T&A!

I hear theyve been hitting the macks pretty good and a few smaller ones on deans down at the hospital in dana point id do 3knt to 5knts. if i use a lure its durado color or red and white. 7/0 hook. or even drop the magnum with a mack on it couldnt hurt.

Find Hoag Hospital and stay 3 miles out and look for birds....

They usually will lurk on the outside of bait balls........

Like the others said....... troll as slow as you boat can......

    Red/Black or Green/Black

Or catch/buy a big Mac and pin that on............

Troll between 2-3 knots. Small rapalas. Go 1/8 mile in front of newport pier. Stay in front of the pier. You can start close to the piar and zig-zag out , side to side parrelal to the beach. Zig-zag 1/4 mile each way. Ive have had very good luck in that area.

Slow troll a bridled mack as slow as you can go in the previously stated areas and catch one by the mouth, it takes a little talent of course but I know you have that.

troll one very short right under prop wash
that is where we get 90 percent of our knockdowns
also troll lures on 150-250# mono instead of wire.
    improves number of hookups drastically.
slow speed make lures wobble drives them crazy
    hopes this helps
    release the little ones
    later
