Launched for the first time out of Cabrillo yesterday 4-7-18 @ 6:30 with my brother-in-law Sean on his 16’ Jon Boat. The morning was overcast, wind was not present, and the water was absolute glass. Bait was boiling outside the launch ramp which got us fired up. We started working inside the The Breakwall and first cast I landed this nice Calico on the Keitech Swimbait We added a few more shorts at the first stop. After bumping to the 2nd spot I started chucking a 7” MC Viejo Swimbait (Christmas Tree color) scored on our biggest Sandbass of the day which measured 18” The bite turned on after this, almost every cast got bit and Sean put on 2 more nice Sandbass on the boat using his Hook Up Bait Mixed in were a few short Barracuda, tons of short Kelp/Calico/Sandbass, and Mackerel. Winds started picking up so we headed back to the launch ramp and stopped at a few Pilings for a few more Calicos, Sandbass, and one short Halibut Back to the ramp around Noon. All in all we caught easily 30+ Fish between the two of us. Great day on the water.
