Great day on the water 7/9 with my oldest son (early celebration of his 9th birthday). Captain and crew put us on all kinds of bluefin and yellowfin. Those guys were working hard up in the crows nest with the gyro’s hunting down the fish. Stoked to see my son rally and catch his first tuna despite fighting seasickness. Really great setup on the San Diego, refrig saltwater hold, spiked and bled fish. have been enjoying the fresh toro sashimi! Fish are out ther, go get ‘’em!

Take it from someone who knows, he is hooked for life. I was and have been doing it ever since. I'm not sure how old I was, but under nine. I used to wrap myself around the bait tank (a pony keg ) and I can still hear my dad saying, "don't let go of that pole"

Can’t think of a better birthday present than to be on the water with pops, the nice tuna is icing on the cake, great job 🤙🏼 Your son will be “bugging” you about when the next trip will be, good problem to have.

Thanks for the report. What size line were they biting? I'm thinking of heading out Thursday. Thx.

My son’s YFT was caught on 30lb flouro leader. I caught a small BFT on 30 lb also and later moved up to 60lb flouro when captain metered some larger models. Didn’t get one of those but did catch a 30lb YFT on that 60lb flouro leader. Tight lines!

Thanks! He was stoked! Speaking of icing on the cake my bride is artistic and made a YFT for his birthday cake to celebrate his catch!
