    Hey guys,
Yellows picked up again the last few days so I ran down to SD to jump on a boat. Spent the night in Point Loma so I could sleep in a little. Woke up and looked at the reservations to decide which boat to go on. Mission Belle had lightest load with 14 reservations. Grande and San Diego both had 24. Light load is my thing and bunks sounded great but I ended up deciding "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" San Diego it was. Got on the boat and people kept coming. We ended up with 41 I believe. Couple of big groups showed up. Lots of good sticks that I recognized from around so I wasn't worried. Capt Matt was driving again. Fisher and David were on deck and funny man Doug was providing the galley entertainment.
We hit the bait dock for some quality 6-8" dines and headed for the islands. 20181120_054203.jpg
    20181120_060407.jpg
20181120_060521.jpg Matt said that most of the yellows had been caught on yo yo iron and dropper loops (no surprise there) So I rigged up my trusty Trinidad 40N with 50 flouro, Calstar 700H , and 6x (mint). I had a surface iron , and slow pitch set up also but they were not used for the rest of the trip. Set off on a nice sunrise and soon were off the islands. 20181120_060647.jpg

Weather was beautiful! Glassy conditions. Almost no wind and no swell. We spotted the Grande, the Mission Belle, and a small fleet of skiffs fishing. 20181120_091904.jpg
Matt metered around an throttled down on the first stop. Lines went out and soon calls of "Hook Up !" I hit bottom, took 3 turns and got slammed. Made quick work of the fish and got him to the surface. I was up at the bow with a few folks and wanted to wind down to the fish before bouncing for the safety of others. Leaned over the high rail winding down and the fish shook off the jig. Bummer ! "Ahhhhhh! " went the boys. Oh well back at it. Meanwhile the others put some fish on the deck. 20181120_123505.jpg
    20181120_170128.jpg
We motored on and stopped a couple more times for a few fish. No bites for me yet and I was getting hungry for a fish. Looked a my jig and noticed one on the hooks was broken off. I'm not gonna say that that was why my fish came off, but I changed over to my second string jig. 6x scrambled egg. Next stop I got bit and finally bounce one in the box (literally). 20181120_170334.jpg
Dropped back down and got bit again. Hey, I like this jig ! Get the fish up to bounce. Splash and by by. TWICE ! YOU GOTTA BE SHITTIN ME ! Drop back down but nothing for me. We make a few more stops for a few fish each. Nothing for me and then the lull hits. Fish don't wanna play. A few guys drop down to 40lb and credit that for a few bonus fish. Meanwhile the dropper loop guys are doing pretty good in the back. That's if you wanna brave the crowded stern. No thanks. I stayed fwd of the bait tank. Matt kept fishing hard. Covering every square inch of the area we fished and meanwhile we waited. 20181120_152939.jpg
    20181120_141727.jpg
I talked to a guy who was on the boat Sun and he said it was kind of the same way then and that they pick up a lot of fish at the end of the day so I was hopeful. We kept scratching away and I was still sitting on the one fish. I was starting to miss the two I lost. Some guys went to dropper and some dropped down to 40lb but I decided to live or die by my 50lb set up. Almost! I went back to my mint 6x with the two hooks on it. We pulled up to the next stop and I got another one as guys were getting bit. 20181120_160711.jpg
Shortly after that. Matt tells us that we are running short of time and that he is going to circle the spot one more time before heading back. A few minutes later the boat throttles down hard. "THROW BAIT THROW BAIT THIS ONE'S A BEEFER ! LET UM HAVE IT GUYS !"
Everyone is bit and the fish are sticking with the boat. I get two on this stop and the deck looks like it should. 20181120_165728.jpg 20181120_170146.jpg 20181120_165959.jpg 20181120_161507.jpg
We pull away and everyone is stoked that we pulled it out on the last stop. We are headed home and five minutes later the boat throttles down hard again. Matt comes on the horn. "HIT IT HARD ITS ANOTHER BEEFER. THIS IS THE BIGGEST SCHOOL I'VE SEEN ALL DAY. GET UM BOYS CAUSE WE'RE GOING HOME AFTER THIS"
Everyone is bent again and I get lucky enough to get two more on this stop. 20181120_160823.jpg
    20181120_165705.jpg 20181120_165918.jpg 20181120_165508.jpg
We head home for real this time with smiles and hi fives around. I had to wait a little bit but I went 6 for 8 all on the iron. Like I said. The dropper loops got bit too. No fly line fish or surface iron. Some guys did well on the flat falls and butterfly out fits too. Fish were 6-12 lbs. So go get um tomorrow and hope they stick around after the Thanksgiving weather.
Can't say enough about the Capt/Crew. THOSE GUYS ARE GOOD !
    Cheers !
Oh and in case anyone is wondering. Matt and the crew made sure that everyone knew that Mexican limits were 5 fish and that they would give folks their 5 biggest fish. The rest were distributed accordingly.
