I recognize that it will be a small subset of this grand group of anglers that would be interested in a scientific paper on the natural history of this island, particularly the birds, but here is one fresh from the press. (Literally, published yesterday.)

Bill Everett is an Explorers Club level naturalist and adventurer who just published, in the Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences, just such an article. Who'd have known that there was once a species of Caracara on the island -- also looks like a scientist shot one of the last four!!

    For those with such interest:

When you are at the island and you look up on the hillsides you can see what look like game trails. I always watch but I have never seen any goats. It sounds like they have all been removed now. If you look at the island on Google maps you can see an overhead view of all the volcano craters on the island. There is a really large one at the south end that is not too far from the fishing village.

In fairness, SF has become a major shit hole. No honest person could deny that. Especially considering how GREAT it once was, its decline is a major tragedy -- lots of people (visitors and residences alike) are deprived of what it was. Someone ought to run for mayor on the platform of make SF Great Again.

Maybe before you pop off you should go take a walk around the city. Just watch where you step and enjoy all of the homeless camps

Must have been a while since you were last there. Roseville isn’t so bad but then you probably haven’t been there either

OK I stand corrected regarding SF. However, I have been to Roseville. I love the neighborhood around the UP railroad yard.

Very cool island. I like all the volcanic craters and lava flows. On foggy days I almost expect some Dinosaurs to appear... very Jurassic Park minus the jungles.

How did this innocent post on the avifauna of Guadalupe turn to the unhappiness of the homeless of San Francisco and other CA cities?

    Unfortunate.
