Last week I fought a cow BFT for an hour on a Penn Torque 40NLD-2 (4/0 size) in high gear (5.5 to 1)... got it to deep color where I then got chewed off on 60lb Blackwater. Low gear just spun as it was not engaging do to the extra thick blade my aftermarket power handle had on it, I also tweaked the rivet securing the knob so it ended up with a serious wobble... have since then replaced that Jap made power handle with the new USA made Tiburon power handle designed specifically for the Torque 40NLD-2.

    Penn Senators are just cool.

They are the rockabilly artists of the fishing world.

Yes they are. First tuna over 100 hundo was on a 4/0 senator. Makes everything else seem easy. No one used the rail then. Wish I did :). Made the memorys

Hope the new handle does not over power again! The only reason I got a 170lb yft on 50# mono and a tn30 fishing wahoo. Was because of the cal drag plate installed so I didn't get taken to the knott. And also the full size raider prevented the chew off. If that 170 was a bait fish. I would had lost it from chew. At least you saw color. Strong work on 60#

123lb on the right. Penn senator 4/0, age 15. So beat just showered and barely made it for a pic. 9 on one drift for me 1225646_4feb6057be9924a30cc1d7780b0cf44b~2.jpg Most of the catch acquired a few thousand dollars in sushi credit. Old school. What ever

Mom likes vets and my bro still in high school liked classics. And the astro van my dad rocked for all of us

My back hurts just thinking about using a Penn 4/0 on that fish. The photo makes me think of how grateful I am for the advancement of two speed reels and rail rods. As someone who has been long range fishing for a while, I marvel at how much the gear has evolved over the last 25 years.

Remember when Accurate came out with Accuplates to beef up your Penn reels? I souped up all of my reels. Next came two speed reels that had freespool and tons of drag pressure. Rail rods and spectra rounded out the arsenal. Yeah, there have been some great advancements in our sport.

The USA made handle may be superior to the aftermarket Japanese made one but your choice of wording I find offensive. Words count.

You have to consider the source. RealDealAngler aka "Garabaldi" has been banned before. Probably happen again.

I respect your opinions and all, but come on guys really??

This is the problem these days, people are way to touchy and sensitive about too many things. You boys are wound up to tight over nothing....lossen up a bit and enjoy life ;)

Going off your own logic, then I should be offended by the fact you said USA instead of "United States Of America" ....ya see how silly that is?

Have a little fun in this life, and don't take all things so seriously.

I've been called cracker, white boy, yank and all kinds of other things, so being called Yank wouldn't bug me in the slightest.

The thing you guys need to realize and mellow out over, is that in the context of this thread he used "Jap" as a shortened abbreviation of the word Japanese, just as you used "USA" instead of United States of America. No different than me saying I fished Mex waters.

All I'm saying is people should not let little silly things bug them so much. ;)

I suggest you use that abbreviation in front of your Asian friends and see how that works out for you. Enough said, nice catch of a fish and cudose to the angler in the original post. Peace brother.

Will do David,, I don't pick them up from Ken until next Friday when I go down for my trip. Ken has the T-bar handle on all of his Torque star drags and I loved the way it sets up

Do you want me to post a photo of the bad Jap handle? Funny... another well known BD poster and myself recently talked about how great our Jap tuna heads worked on this forum and that we still had a bunch of them (nobody said shit about that?).

I do with some and they laugh about it! (no big deal). So do you call a black man an "African American" (a lot of black men don't like that)… and many younger blacks these days call their buddies: NIGGA... so go figure! I guess politically correct depends on one's opinion of such... maybe we can get Bill Maher to chime in here.
