Is this “offshore fishing report” section intended to show off all your pics from your favorite sport boat trip OR is it intended for the personal boater wanting to help the next guy hitting the water?

Maybe BD should have a section “Personal Best/Sportboat trip” Section? Would make it so much easier to weed through all the fish porn.

I love all the personal write ups, killer pics, but man it would be nice to have a section for actual useful info for helping the guys hunting their own fish on their own boats.

I think the forum is already there,it's the guys reporting that aren't providing the critical information you're looking for.Honestly i don't blame them.More bragging reports than anything.

Too many viewers, not enough posters. The bad trips are as helpful as the good ones for planning trips. Bloodydecks used to be a lot more informative a few years back. I guess I got to get Fishdope even though I'm mostly inshore, but especially for offshore.

WELL WRITTEN reports of either Sport Boats or Private Boats contain good info on where,
sometimes even GPS #'s.
What fish caught,bait used,
tackle, what worked, and photos. I and many savor reports from both.
Besides Private Boater Forum, Fishing ChitChat, look at Long Range Fishing for long reports!

If members didn't try to find something wrong with fishing reports. Or reports weren't scrutinized microscopically. We'd probably get more in detailed reports.
But people want to argue about exact weights, conditions, bait, species, reacharounds....

Not saying anything bad about a single report, just seeing if the moderators would entertain the idea to have two sections on the offshore reports section.

Or if us private boaters need to jump over to that forum, I suppose that’s an option. We are all creatures of habit, so I end up here to gather info before a trip.

Some of us don’t have the time to weed through the story book write ups to get info. A section that sticks to strictly on the water, current reports would be killer. But shit, this ain’t my party and the BD crew loves to have as many at the party (online traffic), so we shall see what transpires.

And if this was my party, I’d be paying the hardcore fisherman who fish weekly to post up their reports. As of now, someone who works for BD scours the posts, sportboat fish counts, and probably AIS to get us the consolidated version on FishDope (FD). I’m a member, I enjoy the read every evening. But it’s lacking current, daily reports from credible fisherman. Pay those dudes to report. Give them free memberships. Do something to get us guys a better platform for current reports. Maybe FD could have a link to where they consolidate all the current, on the water reports to a private forum. Shit, I’m pulling ideas out of my ass at this point.

i too think there used to be a private boater forum. that would be more useful than paying for the dope thingy.

It was owned by Dennis at Affordable Marine Service. Best website ever, long before BD came along. Dedicated to the private boat fisherman. Man, was there some valuable information to be had there. It was all about the private boater. Met some great guys on there. BD should have something similar. We'd all benefit from that. Fish porn is cool, but useful information geared toward private boaters is cooler. BD makes enough money from advertising. No need to charge us for anything.

BD kicks fucking ass. Who cares if they make tons of money. They should. And they should charge whatever they want. Capitalism at its finest. I just don’t like how the offshore page has become a melting pot for everything “offshore”. Same with the classifieds. Sub category it.

I think BD likes a bit of the unorganized forums and classifieds. It gets users to spend more time scrolling, increasing traffic on the site, promoting more advertisements. It’s probably money driven. Shit, wouldn’t you?
