Tern 400x ok for 40#?

    Is the Tern 400 ok for 40# on a jigstick or is it better suited for 30# duty?

    The TX-400 is absolutely fine for 40# spectra. We list it's capacity as 400 yards of 50#.

    Thanks...I meant a 50# braid backer and a 75yd topshot of 40# for surface iron....

    The TX-400 is more than capable for 40#. To throw the iron, the 500 is the more popular option simply because that size of reel is what people are more used to throwing with, but the 400 is more than up to the task.
