The handle appears to be a squeeze rivet with no way to take it apart. The handle turns but it doesn't spin freely like I'm used to. Its been soaking in oil for a couple of nights now and it is exactly the same.

I know people like these reels. Is this a known characteristic of the handle design? It will bring in a fish, that's not in question. Having a smooth and exciting retrieve with a nice fish...I give this ones ability a 5/10 with this handle

I have been internet searching since this post,

This seems to be a known issue. Alan Tani and others say the handles are a weak link.

No biggie, it is an easy fix and I'm going to catch fish on it in a couple weeks before it gets replaced this winter

It seems to like it's new home on the lami LX106HC

Yes
I have 6 or 7 of them and it happens to about 1 each year. I’ve always had good luck dripping a little oil in between the handle and spinning it. I use the corrosion x stuff.

Has anyone contacted the manufacturer? Many times they will send a new one at no charge. Maybe if enough folks contact them they will fix the problem. Bob
