    Hi You :)

Yes she is 18 already.. :)
Im proud of her, she is grown up great - we had some hard knocks and made it through it.

Thank you Ready4TheYellow for the info -

and as for the Girls & Tats.. To each their own.. I have several.. and yes, I will help her get hers. We both have people who accept us for what is on the inside instead of the ink on the outside. We have had our struggles and are finally so very close and this bond between us is worth every bit past struggle to get here.

    howdy Shelly!

    so I completely respect that....

problem is, there are still people in the world who make hiring decisions, who are not as open minded as most of us around here.

Id hate to see her get denied ANYTHING she may want in life, because of some skin decorations....

    ........just sayin. :)

....at least consider encouraging her to place it somewhere that can be covered when necessary.

    my $.02

To each their own is right. It seems that the girls all want to get a tat when they turn 18 because they are considered an adult and can! Two of my nieces did exactly that. One got a Kermit the Frog on her hip and the other got a butterfly on her ankle. Both were done on their own without their moms knowledge and came home all grown up and proud! The one with Kermit on her hip is now 30 and had her 2nd child. Kermit got stretched out and you can imagine how lovely he looks. She totally regrets that she got it and says she did it to be rebellious and show she's an "adult". She also got over her Kermit the Frog kick about a yr. after getting it. It's just not so cute as you get older.

The other niece with the ankle butterfly also regrets it. At her wedding, it showed on her ankle and so many commented on how distracting it was from her wedding attire. She too was over the whole tattoo kick by that point and admitted to getting one just because she was turning 18.

My own daughter wanted to get one once she turned 18. She is now 22. Her dad told her that as long as he is helping with her college and paying her rent for her apt., she cannot get a tattoo until she graduates college. If she wants to use the "I'm an adult and can do what I want" line, then he said... well you can pay your bills like an adult as well. He explained that he wanted her to not rush into a decision just because she can and that she should take some time to figure it out. I know that she has changed her mind of what tattoo she wants to get since she was 18. She still says she will get one when she graduates college but at least she's had time to think about it and not make a rash decision. People do judge the tats when hiring like Mikey says. I personally don't care for a tattoo on a female myself but it's nunmybizness what someone else wants to do on their own body. The point of my post is not to judge, it's to make sure that a rash decision is not made and to think it out.Kids get caught up in the feeling that getting a tattoo is a way of being an adult and don't really realize the whole impact that "may" go along with it. Nowadays, those without a tattoo is definitely the minority.

My 2nd daughter has no desire to get a tattoo and told me that it's not for her but she'd only consider getting one as a tribute and honor to me or her dad if something happened to us and we died. I told her that there are other ways to honor us without having to display it on her body.

It's a personal thing to get a tattoo and you have your reasons and it's not for me to judge. I just want to provide input from my nieces experience that they regret the rash decision just because they turned 18 and could get them!

Good luck on whatever you decide to do and enjoy every minute with your daughter!

I had an older inker at Sturgis tell me once, never get a tat of your wife or girlfrend's name. It's permanent the relationship ain't.
Just my opnion but anyone who's prepared to judge what kind of person you are because you have tat's, is really not someone you want much to do with anyway.

Hey Shelly...........both my girls have tats. Who am I to judge....

In SD for fish ink I agree with Ben, but go in a look at his portfolio first.

But seriously, have Sia take the extra time and effort to travel up to Charles.......Cause she does deserve the best right ??

BTW when ya coming down here to Fly fish the Calicos and Yellows... yea we've got them on the fly before :D Almosr busted my 30 year old Garcia flyrod..LOL
