Todays tech tip is for those of you that are the last to get your gear onboard so you can move and make another drift. If your buddies already have their gear onboard and they are just waiting on you to get yours in, wasting their valuable fishing time. Youprobably need to adjust your retrieve speed, yes you can also adjust the speed at which the reel brings your bait in. Normally the reels come factory set in the middle of the speed retrieve rating and you can adjust it so the rheostat dial gets up to full speed.

With the reel plugged in, push the mode button once.....now the reel should have a ”C” note: if your reel went to the jig mode, no worries just hit the reset button and it should go to the screen with the “C”.

Push mode button 1 more time, you should now have a “C” and a number displayed on the screen between 5 and 15. If it is already on 15, your reel is set to max speed retrieval. If not, you can adjust by moving your engagement dial towards ”full” and the numbers will increase. Once you have it set as high as you want, hit the mode button once more to lock it in, you should now be back on the main screen with depth readings showing.

You can now retrieve your bait super fast and not be ”That Guy or Gal that is slowing up progress of getting back into the zone.

NOW remember, this will effect how fast the reel tries to bring a fish in as well, so you may need to slow your retrieval when you have a big fish by moving the dial back a little so the reel doesn’t go into overload. Swede had a fish do that a couple years ago on the Kelli Ann when he would have to bring the dial back to reset and move back forward to start reeling again. Combination of #80+ Hali and some pretty big swells, but still ended up with the fish in the box.
