my coworker Obtunaman & I decided to hit the rock pile today, just fisnin for rock fish, not much there, so we headed to north island (key hole ) as you can see by the photo. hit a little honey hole of reds. got limits, beautiful day on the water. pretty flat, did 28-30 mph on the way out & 32-35mph on the way back in. took 30mins from north island to just inside point loma. got about 1/4 mile from shelter island & engine started to miss. gonna change plugs & fuel filter, test it out next weekend. hope that works cause I can't afford another repair bill. by the way, only 1 lane open at the ramp,

Nice rock fish!! Can't tell all the species in your hold. Could be starrys or other red colored fish like chuckleheads. In addition to reds(vermilion rockfish)Just FYI in Mex. the limits is 5 fish max any species 10 total bag. But some, like dorado count as two against your five. When at colonet I always stop at like five YT three reds and then go for monster ling and a halibut or sheep head. To have ten total.

If you noticed I stated it might be other red fish. Other than the ten vermilion you and your passenger caught. More informative to others. Sounds like you know the right spots. Freckles mushroom and others in the area!! Most anytime there are good fish on them. Too small for sportfishing boats on some. Again good report!!!

I went to change the sparks plugs, fuel filter & primer bulb the other day, I removed the fuel filter, poured the gas in a jar, just to see whats in the filter, there was no water in the fuel, so I put the new fuel filter on & put a new primer bulb on. started to squeeze it & nothing. so I think I found why the engine started to miss, I was getting no gas to the primer bulb. there's a one way check valve on the tanks pickup tube that was stuck closed, I'm getting a new one tomorrow, hopefully that fixes the problem.
Damn boats, if it's not one thing, it's another.
but, i'm glad I have one

Buddy had a similar problem and it turned out the fuel tank cap was not venting properly. Added a secondary vent in the splash well and whalla...All good. Try cracking the fuel tank cap and listen for the rush of air or see if it runs better.
