I know of a few that have blown in under 200 hours. Buddy lost one at 188 hours. The bite is awesome though.

I have heard some horror stories of the 350 yam. But it's like anything, you never see the positive reviews on anything these days.

I would stick with the 250 yam and call it good. proven workhorse. dont know anything about the huge ones but looks to me more like a brand war race for most hp instead of a race for the most reliable engine, like in the past.

Sorry didn't mean to put ha. I have to push 11,000 pounds. So I'm going to do twins. I tested the boat with twin 300 Yamahas. If push the boat to 50 miles an hour but that was with 10 gallons of fuel and three guys

But if you add 6 guys, 2000 lb of fish, 2000 lb of fuel, 500 lb of ice and gear that is now a 35 mile an hour boat. You add the equation I'm having to outrun a storm and running inlets that are moving at 15 miles an hour equals pucker factor

That's the one. My first long trip will be having to cross that open stretch and that's the only safe haven.

The jury is still out on the Suzuki 350s. There are a few large catamaran whale/dolphin boats here in Dana Point and Oceanside, CA that run them and they have been replacing motors more frequent then they like.

The Yamaha F300s do well on lighter boats. Just ask the FDNY guys with their fleet of thirteen 33’ Safeboats.....

I run a Yamaha F350 and haven’t had any issues aside from the well documented and free to change flywheel matter. Stay away from Gen I Yamaha F350s as those exhaust manifolds also need to be replaced with later generation versions. And the F350 is out of production so stock is limited to what is floating in the warehouses.

Jury still out on the new Yamaha F425s. Heavy motors and maintenance expensive. I believe there are a few commercial operators in the Gulf that have several thousand hours on their sets and aren’t complaining. But just a few guys that I am aware of.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys. With the places I am planning on going, limping on one can get me into some trouble. I am a 4000-4500 Rpm guy so hopefully that will get me some more life expectancy. As soon as my motors are out of warranty or I reach a couple thousand hours, they are gone. These fukrs are Heartbreakers no matter how you look at it

I think running 35mph in the inlets can get you in more trouble than anything else! Dont they still raft logs up there?

I'm talking about having enough power to battle 15mph currents with 5000 more lbs then the boat I test drove

Go to Miami. More boats in one harbor than in all of California. Suzukis everywhere. Tons of huge center consoles with multiple Suzuki 300s and 350s.
