I'm headed down to HB for a soccer tournament for my boy this weekend and Sunday morning before things get started I was thinking about trying my luck and wondered if its worth bringing gear to fish the surf. If so what gear and what type of fish would I be targeting. I normally go after Surf perch up around Pismo & Morro. Can I find the same kind of action down there?

I used to catch some pretty nice corvina on Seal beach. Sight cast them with a sand flea.

Sand crabs or sand worms (gulp) work best for me! Ghost shrimp and clams will also work. As for spots anywhere between north of HB pier and Bolsa Chica can produce.

Surf perch, yellowfin croaker, spotfin croaker, and corbina have all been biting lately.
