WOW!!! Thanks guys for all the stories/posts/pics. STRIPERS are really OUT THERE! Man...like I said...I would of never in a MILLION YEARS think there were stripers in my local saltwater and have the probability of catching them.

I will definitely try and make it a goal to catch a SALTWATER STRIPER than...!!!!

    Thanks everyone.

Doubt they will stock ever again. An east coast fish yhat was planted in 1800s and later out west. They are very detrimental to salmon and steelhead. Steelhead endangered runs alone probably guarantee them never being stocked again. But wgatever is ledt will fight to survive as nature always does

Yes, they stocked them is several bays in So. Cal. years ago but abandoned the program when they discovered the rainbow trout they also stocked there to feed them kept dying.

Every year a few get nabbed in SoCal salt, Dana Point had one a few years back that was heard of, but as stated, fluke, not really something you can target.

Good luck with that. Hope you don't hook any of the surfers!

When I was a kid I used to fish both sides of that channel, never catch much except perch and croakers. I remember it was fun to watch the ski boats go up the river at high tide. I don't think they let boats back there anymore. At least I haven't seen any there in the last few years.

Dinklimit , Blake here at the shop in H.B road his bike home one day last week and cruised up one of the bike paths along one of the river channels and while doing so saw a guy in one of those channels with a 25 to 30lber on a stringer and still fishing. Yes striper !!!! Stop by the shop and hit him up. I'm sure he'd fill you in . definitely wont be posting anything or saying anything on a phone though.

Thanks for the post! WOW!!! Really! A 20-30lb striper in one of the channels. Thats pretty awesome!! Which tackle/bait shop in HB are you talking about? I would love to go down to it and talk to this Blake person personally myself as I have always wanted to catch a striper closer to home in the salt and not in the reservoirs.

Thanks for the heads up and story.

Check my profile under job. My employer doesn't advertise here on BD and I believe its against BD rules to post anything that leads back to the store. Sucks but its their rules. Why I don't post much anymore.

Is this a striped bass? We are just starting to take the kids fishing and frequently go just south of the Coronado bridge with halibut rigs using sardines and caught this guy yesterday
