    I see
Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming WSW 5 to 10 kt in the afternoon. Patchy fog before 11am. Mixed swell...W 2 ft at 6 seconds and S 2 ft at 13 seconds. Wind waves 1 ft or less.

    Or I get
Winds: WSW 4 to 5 knots.

    Seas: W 3 feet at 5 seconds.

Both of these forecast are for mid Catalina channel on Thur.
Its not looking too great for Sat at this rate. One is Noaa, and one bouyweather.
    What do you see?

So you think 3 ft at 5 sec is similar to 2 ft at 6 sec?

You do know that 3 ft seas are 50% larger than 2ft seas.

I'm not sure if you're serious but this is a situation where percentage is a lot less important than the actual number.

If I have 2 dollars and increase it to 3 dollars, I've increased my bank account by 50%.

    I'm rich!

50% more of a hill of beans still works out to a hill of beans. 2 to 3 foot seas is more or less balmy.

Sine<frequency*÷buoyancy×theta+wave height in meters squared = noobs might puke.

2 to 3s at 5 seconds suck on a skiff. 2s arnt too bad if they are not steep.

The actual fore cast is 2 feet at 5 seconds with 1 feet wind wave. Could be okay, could be a washing machine, depending on how the waves stack.

In case you want to know why it's like this, it's because there's constant wind blowing off shore.

Conditions are manageable but not a comfortable ride for small crafts.

The thing is.....if you don't wanna dump passengers out of their seats while trolling you have to correct your course so as to take the waves head on and less than 7 or 8 seconds will wear your ass out turning constantly. A tiller is actually easier to turn quickly.

With great good fortune and proper planning you occasionally get to surf the troughs on the way home.

Went to the farm on Sunday in a 17 whaler. Forecast was correct. Sloppy and choppy, but manageable if you know your craft. 36 miles of running in it was slightly a chore.

The farm was a cold 64F. I drifted at .8 mph live dines. Had one hit but pulled off and that was when I just arrived. Stayed for three hours jigging and drifting at 140-150 feet. Sun never came out and was more or less quiet. Birds were looking hard but found nothing. Lots of bait on Izors on the run home. Simple easy day. Boats were coming and going on their way to cat. Some stopped and drifted then went on their way. One skippy 24 trolled in circles around the farm for an hour for nada.
